Has anyone read any of these horror books and if you have what do you think of them?

That's quite a list! I've read many of them. All of the Stephen King are great. I saw Dean Koontz on there just once - look into his earlier works like Whispers, Lightning, and Strangers. Why don't you look into authors Shirley Jackson, Anne Rice, Michael Creighton, or Bentley Little.
