Is it just me or was this rude?

I just started taking a new cl at my school(Art) with people I don't know. In the cl the teacher let's us play music on her stereo and they usually choose what music plays, but they kept telling me to bring in a CD with music I like, so I did and they played it today. It had stuff like Metallica, Pink Floyd, Foo Fighters, and Buckethead on it. Two songs through(Everlong and Comfortably Numb) they started complaining about how terrible the music was, so they got up took the CD out and blasted Taylor Swift the rest of the cl at twice the volume my CD was playing.
